One Denver native and musician on how the city makes it easy to be creative.
Denver’s own EDM musician Bass Physics talks about being inspired by Denver. He talks about the natural beauty of Denver, how he began making music and his favorite local venues to play at and visit.
What about the city inspires you and your music?
The beauty of the Front Range and Summit County inspire me daily to make music and share some of those amazing vibes with my listeners. Colorado has a booming population but the vast amount of space here, compared to other big cities, makes it easy to be creative.
What are some of your favorite venues to play in Denver, and why?
Red Rocks is by far my favorite venue in Colorado that I have played. Some other favs are Fillmore, Aggie, Ogden, and Bluebird Theatres. Any venue in Colorado is a pleasure to play because of how serious everyone is about shows here, they always take care of artists and have amazing production.

How did you get started making music?
When I was eight I wanted to play guitar, so my mother got me guitar and piano lessons. I did those for maybe three months and from there I took my own interest and started self-teaching.
What drew you to the particular kind of music you create?
I saw Sound Tribe Sector 9 at Red Rocks in 2008 and immediately got inspired to create my own electronic music. I had been in a funk band at the time as well.

What do you want people to take away from your music?
Colorado has so many opportunities for electronic music, and it is not yet too oversaturated like Los Angeles or other music capitals of the world that you can’t get noticed. Colorado fans really appreciate and love the style of music, so it is very encouraging to play here.
What do you love about Denver, and why?
I love the views, the people, the vibe, the food, the music scene, and most of all, I love that my family and friends are all here to enjoy it with.
